Leitrim Village · Ireland's Hidden Heartlands
Sixteen lodges hidden in ancient woodland on the banks of the Shannon. Woodsmoke, river mist, red squirrels — and not one reason to check your phone.
The estate was a hunting lodge in 1685, a banking family's retreat, and then — for forty years — nothing at all. The wood grew quiet. We built sixteen lodges under its oaks and left the quiet exactly where we found it.
Check in. Light the fire. Let the Shannon do the talking.
Black-timber A-frames named for the wild neighbours — fox, deer, red squirrel.
Single-storey lodges under vaulted ceilings, named for the birds you'll hear at first light.
Two contemporary lodges with a four-sleeper bunk room — built for the big family weekend.
Three contemporary lodges named for the estate's great trees — with an en-suite bunk room for eight.
Step out of the estate and the Shannon Blueway runs flat and traffic-free to Drumshanbo — by foot, by bike, by kayak. Leitrim Village and its snug bar are a fifteen-minute stroll. Carrick-on-Shannon is ten minutes by car.
Inside the gate: five kilometres of trails through one of Ireland's rare surviving ancient oak woods, three fairy forts, and the river mist that rolls up through the trees at dawn.
The wood
A hundred acres of ancient oak above the Shannon.
The walk
Five kilometres of trails, three fairy forts, red squirrels overhead.
The evening
And the hour it's all built around — the fire pit, and the dark coming down.

On the estate
Finnish sauna at 90°, then the cold plunge that resets your whole nervous system.
Ireland's only indigenous therapy — three centuries of precedent, hand-harvested Sligo seaweed.
The Woodland Trail to a rare stand of ancient oak above the Shannon Blueway.
Logs from the forest floor, marshmallows, and the dark coming down over the stargazing deck.
Live music in a timber room in the wood — and a fifteen-minute stumble home.
Exclusive use
For a landmark birthday, a family scattered across the world, a wedding weekend, or a company that needs to disappear and think — take the entire estate. Sixteen lodges sleeping up to a hundred, the Barn for two hundred, the walled-garden Sanctuary, five kilometres of trails, and not another car on the avenue.

“Our stay was nothing short of exceptional — a true five-star experience from start to finish. The spa was a full sensory retreat that let us properly switch off. A hidden gem that delivers not just luxury, but a memorable and peaceful escape.”
“Five adults, two toddlers and a dog, two nights in the Birds of a Feather lodge. Everything from start to finish was smooth and lovely. The lodges are very cosy and look stunning, especially at night with the lights on. The kids toasted marshmallows and our dog was ecstatic discovering the nature trails.”
“Excellent location for a hen party group — the lodges are perfect, close to Carrick-on-Shannon, and the spa experience was lovely!”
Custodianship
Ireland's native woodland covers barely two per cent of the island. A rare stand of ancient oak above the Shannon is ours to mind — protected and managed for the long term. Your stay is what keeps it standing.
A proposal in the woods. A big birthday. A company that needs to think differently for two days. Or total silence for two, with the seaweed baths booked and nothing else on the agenda. Build the shape first; the team can tailor the lodges, the table and the timing.
The dark comes down. The fire catches.
Sixteen lodges, a hundred acres, and absolutely nothing you have to do.
